Relic Entertainment has given us a nice chunk of gameplay footage from a walkthrough of an Allied faction’s perspective. Final Stand is a standalone DLC that let’s you and a friend play a wave based defence mode with rewards your can pick in between waves. Final Stand can be played in coop or in solo.
This particular video showcases some interesting events. Relic are using random events that can happen in between waves, like being attacked by tiny self-destructing Goliaths or smoke bombs that hide the enemy. I like this idea a lot and I think the randomness of events such as these can make a wave based horde defence mode more interesting rather than just being repetitive.
But I do have my concerns. They need a good variety of events to make this DLC a lot more replayable. A lot of units and abilities have been rebalanced for this DLC. Something of note is that infantries in buildings have been buffed with more vision and firepower than vanilla Company of Heroes 3.
This does seem to mean that infantry is pretty OP and the way to go. As evident in the video itself, armour seems to not be a huge factor. In fact the few times they called it in, it was immediately destroy by the enemy. Tanks are not as defensible as infantry that can take cover so I’m not sure how they are going to make them more viable in Final Stand.
Relic ended the video promising a follow up let’s play video showcasing a session using the Axis factions. I wonder if armour would be much stronger and more practical for the Axis faction. Check out the video below and tell me what you thought of it.
