One of the best modern RTS games to have released the past year is without a doubt, the Command & Conquer inspired Tempest Rising. The game’s single player campaign is centred around two factions the Global Defence Force (GDF) and the Tempest Dynasty. The Veti, a mysterious third faction was only past of the single player campaign as an opponent you faced.
The Veti were later added as a playable multiplayer/skirmish faction you can played against your friends with. But it seems the developers of Tempest Rising has been hard at work to add the Veti in single player as well.
A demo of Veti single player mission will be available during the Tacticon 2026 digital convention beginning July 9th to 13th. You can download this demo and play for free while it is available during this period (also do check out the rest of the Tacticon showcase… I’ll definitely be checking it out).
What’s unclear is what this single player mission for the Veti means for Tempest Rising. Are we getting a paid expansion featuring the Veti? Is this a free prequel of sorts with a couple of missions? Or a full blown third faction single player experience as a free update? The devs have not stated exactly what this is. But I’m sure we will get more clarification from the devs during Tacticon… I am hopeful.
Anyway you can check out Tempest Rising which is on sale now on Steam and if you wait till July 9th, you can try out the demo.
