Relic Entertainment has launched Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition, giving the 2004 real-time strategy classic a modern overhaul. The game is out now on Steam and GOG for $29.99 USD, with a 30% “Veteran’s Discount” for owners of the Anniversary Edition, plus a 10% launch discount available to everyone for the next two weeks.
This version bundles the original Dawn of War with all three expansions — Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm — and updates the package for today’s hardware while aiming to preserve the look and feel of the original.
Key upgrades include:
- Full 4K resolution with textures upscaled up to four times their original detail.
- Improved lighting, reflections, shadows, gloss, and emissive effects.
- Enhanced camera controls and wider draw distance for more cinematic battles.
- Optimized HUD and UI layout for widescreen displays.
- 64-bit architecture for better performance and stability.
- Improved pathfinding and support for large armies.
- Full compatibility with two decades’ worth of community mods.
The Definitive Edition offers over 100 skirmish maps and nine playable armies, carrying forward the legacy of a title often credited with helping define the modern RTS. Whether returning to the grimdark battlefields or experiencing it for the first time, players can expect a more polished presentation without losing the core of what made Dawn of War a fan favourite.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is available now for PC via Steam and GOG.
