UK-based publisher Kwalee and developer Galaxy Grove have launched their latest project, Town to City, into Early Access on Steam. The game, described as a cozy and creative citybuilder, comes from the team behind Station to Station and is set in a stylized 19th-century world.
The Early Access release includes a mix of structured and open-ended play. Players can work through a story-driven campaign featuring two maps or take a more relaxed approach in sandbox mode, which comes with five maps. Progression spans eight city stages and six monuments, while more than 30 quests provide short-term goals.
At its core, Town to City focuses on giving players full control over their growing communities. Every building, road, and garden can be placed manually, letting players shape towns exactly to their liking. The game’s systems tie into population happiness and economic growth, both of which evolve naturally as amenities are added. Whether it’s a bustling plaza or a quiet stretch of shopfronts, towns expand organically in response to player choices.
The release is accompanied by a new trailer that showcases the game’s visual style and core features. It highlights lively streets filled with citizens, detailed customization options, and the balance between aesthetic design and functional city growth.
Joost van Dongen, Game Director of Town to City, noted the importance of community involvement during development:
“The creativity shown by our demo and beta players has been truly inspiring, and with the community’s feedback we’ve made the game even better. I can’t wait to see what players will build when the game is out, and to keep improving it together!”
With Early Access now live, Town to City offers players the chance to start shaping their own ideal towns while Galaxy Grove continues to refine the game with feedback from its growing community.
