Terra Nil, the eco-strategy game from Free Lives and Devolver Digital, has just dropped a free update—and it’s heating things up. The Heatwave update is available now across PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, and introduces new content, animals, and biomes for players to restore.
At the core of Terra Nil is the concept of reversing environmental collapse—players use futuristic eco-tech to rehabilitate desolate landscapes, bring back life, then pack up and leave without a trace. The Heatwave update expands on this with a brand-new region, three new maps, and more tools to play with.
Here’s what’s in the update:
- 13 new animals, including elephants, crocodiles, hyenas, and vultures. Wildlife now appears more naturally in restored environments and stays longer.
- A photography mode, complete with a scoring system, lets players capture snapshots of their revitalized ecosystems and the creatures living in them.
- Three new challenge maps:
- Parched Dunes
- Canyon Peaks
- Fracked Floodplain
These include gameplay scenarios like oil fires, canyon bridging, and other heat-themed challenges.
- New eco-tech, including a remote-controlled recycling bot and the Xerophytium, a structure used to bring back cactus biomes.
The update is free for all existing owners of Terra Nil. No new purchase or expansion required.
So if you’ve been meaning to clean up a digital desert and spot some vultures along the way, now’s a good time.
