Best Way and Fulqrum Publishing have released a new update for Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, the classic 2004 real-time strategy game that launched the Men of War series.
The update brings modern features to the two-decade-old title, including native 4K resolution support, widescreen compatibility, and enhanced UI scaling for high-DPI displays. The game is now fully compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Players can also access a refreshed Editor, allowing for new maps and mission modifications.
Steam integration has been overhauled with Workshop support for community content, multiplayer matchmaking for both vanilla and modded games, and Steam achievements. The developers also implemented enhanced multi-core CPU support, memory leak fixes, and general technical improvements to boost stability and performance.
A set of four new bonus missions has been added as part of the update.
Originally released in 2004, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II puts players in control of American, British, Soviet, or German forces across 32 missions. Known for its mix of classic RTS gameplay and the unique Direct Control feature, it lets players command units manually on the battlefield. The game also features fully destructible environments, tactical stealth options, and a wide range of authentic World War II vehicles and weapons.
Soldiers: Heroes of World War II is available now on Steam. Its successor, Men of War II, launched in May 2024.
