Frost Giant Studios has officially launched Stormgate: Campaign One – Ashes of Earth, marking the game’s transition beyond Early Access. The campaign dropped on August 5, 2025, bringing a full 12-mission story for the Vanguard faction, alongside major gameplay features now available in the free-to-play RTS.
Founded by StarCraft II and Warcraft III veterans Tim Morten and Tim Campbell, Frost Giant’s debut project leans hard into classic RTS territory, with some updated tech and design for modern audiences. The campaign includes three missions available for free, with the full set priced at $24.99 USD.
Stormgate features three asymmetric factions: the human Vanguard, the demonic Infernal Host, and the angelic Celestial Armada. The game also boasts a notable voice cast including Simu Liu, Tara Strong, and Matt Mercer.
Key features at launch include:
- Ashes of Earth Campaign – 12 missions (3 free), focused on the Vanguard faction
- 1v1, vs. AI, and Custom Games – Core PvP and PvE modes available now
- Sigma Labs – Experimental features like 3-player co-op and the Terrain Editor
- Advanced Tech – Powered by Unreal Engine 5, with SnowPlay 64-tick servers and rollback netcode
- Customizable Controls & BuddyBot – Tools for both new and seasoned RTS players
While Stormgate is free to download and play, players can opt for additional content via in-game or Steam bundle purchases. The Ultimate Edition ($64.99 USD) includes all campaign content, six heroes, cosmetics, a chicken pet, and a custom fog of war shader.
Frost Giant is positioning Stormgate as a long-term platform, with new content already in the pipeline. The 3v3 Team Mayhem mode is expected to hit Sigma Labs later this year.
