Frost Giant Studios has confirmed that Stormgate: Campaign One – Ashes of Earth will officially launch on Steam this August 5, marking the RTS title’s exit from Early Access.
The release delivers a full 12-mission campaign alongside a competitive 1v1 mode. Both are considered feature-complete and ready for a wider audience, following extensive feedback from the community throughout Early Access.
While exiting Early Access, Stormgate will continue its development with other key features still in active production. Co-op Missions, the Terrain Editor Alpha, and the upcoming 3v3 Team Mayhem mode will remain in testing within Sigma Labs, the game’s experimental platform for in-development content.
Frost Giant also announced a change to how updates are labeled. Instead of version numbers, major updates will now use RTS-inspired codenames. The August 5 launch is dubbed Necrolyte, with future updates—including Ornithopter, Peon, and Queen—to follow.
Stormgate’s first campaign offers a self-contained story, with plans for future free missions and additional campaigns based on player demand. All campaign progress made during Early Access will carry over at launch.
Though the core factions and units are considered balanced for launch, Frost Giant emphasized that Stormgate remains a live-service game, with ongoing adjustments, new units, and faction updates planned well beyond release.
Co-op, the editor, and Team Mayhem are projected for completion by 2026, with updates continuing based on community feedback and the game’s commercial success.
