Shields of Loyalty, the turn-based dark fantasy strategy game from the island world of Mantaria, has officially left Early Access and launched in full 1.0. The game blends 2D, genre-classic-inspired visuals with modern tactical features, offering multiple campaigns, army customization, and replayability built into its branching map progression.
Players command one of two distinct avatars: Aglovan the Noble, a cavalry-focused commander built for swift strikes and mixed-unit tactics, or Warlord Karnoth, a brute-force barbarian leader relying on powerful infantry and flying units. Armies can be trained and upgraded, with artifacts collected along the way to unlock special abilities—best deployed at critical moments to break enemy lines.
The game emphasizes tactical positioning, hero auras, and squad formations to survive enemy onslaughts. Heroes of past wars can be freed mid-campaign to join the fight, adding their own auras to the mix. Battles take place across varied biomes, from the swamp-and-rock-filled Darkwoods to the trap-laden tundra of Eternal Ice.
Dynamic environmental hazards—lightning, storms, meteor strikes—add unpredictability, affecting both sides without discrimination. Campaign progression is shaped by player choices, with certain missions unlocked or blocked depending on decisions, encouraging multiple playthroughs to experience all challenges.
With its Early Access journey over, Shields of Loyalty is now positioned as a complete package for fans of tactical, turn-based strategy.
