Red Chaos, a new real-time strategy game inspired by the golden age of base-building warfare, has just dropped its playable demo. If you’ve been longing for a game where tanks roll, air units swoop, and superweapons flatten enemy bases, this might be worth a look.
Developed with old-school RTS sensibilities in mind, Red Chaos pits two asymmetrical factions against each other: the technologically superior Iron Hand and the guerrilla-style Resistance. One is about brute force and control. The other? Sneaky plays, modified vehicles, and a healthy dose of chaos.
Set after a global war leaves most of the world in ruins, the last patch of unpolluted land—Untainted Garden—becomes the stage for a new conflict. The Iron Hand seized power under the guise of peace, transforming hope into oppression. The Resistance rose from the ashes, combining military know-how with improvised tech to fight back.
Gameplay leans into large-scale battles, with a full suite of RTS essentials: base-building, resource harvesting, unit micromanagement, and superweapons for when diplomacy fails (which is always). The Iron Hand has access to high-end hardware like Titan tanks and aerial superiority, while the Resistance makes use of trickery—think flying buses that drop explosives and tunnel systems for surprise attacks.
Multiplayer is fully supported, featuring ranked matches and leaderboard progression. Whether you’re steamrolling friends or getting blindsided by flying Rhinos, there’s plenty of room for tactical variety.
Red Chaos is shaping up to be a modern RTS that wears its inspirations proudly. The demo is available now on Steam. Search your tactics. Command your faction. And maybe bring back some of that 90s RTS mayhem. Check out the demo here.
