Pompeii: The Legacy, a narrative-driven city-building game set in ancient Rome, will launch in Early Access on Steam on September 16, 2025. Developed by solo indie studio Siscia Games, this Roman city builder blends classic management gameplay with a story-driven generational legacy system.
Players return to Pompeii after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, rebuilding the city from its ashes. Balancing politics, trade, social classes, and survival, every choice shapes the future of the city and the family dynasty at its heart. The game challenges players to govern plebeians, patricians, and slaves while navigating societal expectations and looming disasters.
Pompeii: The Legacy features three distinct modes:
- Full Campaign — Follow a generational storyline rebuilding Pompeii.
- Sandbox Mode — Classic city-building gameplay without narrative constraints.
- Creative Mode — Build freely without resource limits or penalties.
Built on a custom engine, the game emphasizes Roman architecture, governance systems, and family legacy progression. Developed over two years by a solo Croatian developer, it aims to deliver a fresh take on historical city builders.
A public demo will run from July 24 to August 3, giving players a hands-on preview of the opening chapter and core mechanics.
Pompeii: The Legacy is set to offer a unique blend of historical strategy, city management, and narrative depth when it launches this September.
