Pompeii: The Legacy, a historical city-builder with a strong narrative focus, is set to enter Early Access on September 23, and it’s bringing broad accessibility with it. From day one, the game will be available in 12 languages: English, German, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Korean, Polish, and Croatian.
The game’s creator, Zeljko Kos, emphasized the importance of making the experience globally accessible from the start. “I wanted the game to be accessible to as many players as possible right from the start, which is why localization was a top priority,” Kos said. “Having Pompeii: The Legacy launch in 12 languages ensures that players everywhere can experience the game without language barriers.”
That decision ties directly into the game’s design. Unlike many city-builders that lean heavily on systems and mechanics, this one puts extra weight on a story-driven campaign. Localization is key to ensuring players can follow the narrative threads and atmosphere without interruption.
At Early Access launch, most of the planned features will already be in place. However, the developer confirmed that additional content is scheduled to roll out during the Early Access period. Notably, real-time strategy (RTS) battles are planned to be added later, expanding the scope beyond the city-building foundations.
As a solo-developed project, the roadmap includes weekly updates. The goal is to steadily expand and polish the game, building on feedback while delivering new features and refinements at a consistent pace.
With its multi-language support, story-driven focus, and ongoing updates, Pompeii: The Legacy is positioning itself for a broad audience right from the start of its Early Access journey.
