The demo for Pompeii: The Legacy is back—briefly. Solo developer Zeljko Kos has reopened access to the ancient Rome city-builder’s demo on Steam, available now through Monday, August 4. This marks the final preview before the game enters Early Access on September 16.
Originally featured during Steam Next Fest, the updated demo includes refinements based on player feedback. If you missed it the first time, this is your last shot before the Early Access version goes live next month. Another limited-time demo window is planned roughly ten days before launch.
New Dev Blog Focuses on Production Chains
Kos has also published a new developer blog diving into one of the game’s core systems: production chains. These interconnected systems are designed to simulate the industry and infrastructure of ancient Pompeii. Highlights include:
- Sand Pit → Glasswork – Craft Roman glassware from raw sand
- Iron Mine → Blacksmith – Turn ore into tools to support daily life
- Clay Pit → Charcoal Burner → Brickwork – Fuel construction with multi-stage materials
The blog also features new screenshots showing off the game’s economic mechanics in action.
