Against the Storm just got darker. The roguelite city-builder’s latest DLC, Nightwatchers, is now live on PC. Priced at $14.99 with a 10% launch discount until August 14, the expansion introduces a new species, new biomes, and a stack of extra content for Viceroys to contend with.
The headline addition? Bats. Not the fluttery kind—these are metalworking zealots with no patience for weakness and a firm belief in the greater good. They’re the latest playable species, joining the game’s growing menagerie and offering a fresh layer of strategy and, presumably, judgment.
Two new biomes have also been added:
- Rocky Ravine – expect terrain that’ll disrupt your usual planning flow
- Bamboo Flats – likely prettier, but just as punishing
In addition to the new species and maps, Nightwatchers comes with new orders, world events, rewards, and even new music. The expansion is available across all major storefronts including Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.
A console version is in the works, but no date has been confirmed yet.
Free Update 1.8: Commons
Releasing alongside the paid DLC, the Commons update (version 1.8) is free for all players. It includes:
- A new Smoldering City upgrade
- A new Hearth-based method to fulfill service needs
- A legendary cornerstone
A 50% discount on the base game is also running through August 14.
If you’re looking for a new reason to return to the storm, this one comes with fangs.
