Master of Command is an upcoming strategy game that puts you in charge of a single army on campaign — not an empire, not a nation, but your army and the men who march with it. Developed by Armchair History Interactive, the game focuses on the harsh realities of 18th-century warfare, blending Total War-style real-time battles with persistent army management.
Set during the Seven Years’ War, Master of Command challenges players to lead their army across hostile territory, balancing movement, supply, and morale. March too far without resupply and your men will starve. Wait too long to strike, and the enemy will grow stronger. The campaign is fully real-time, with a dynamic map that features fog of war, moving enemy forces, and branching encounters.
When battles break out, there are no turns and no pausing. Combat plays out in real time, where positioning, terrain, timing, and the condition of your troops decide the outcome. Morale and stamina play critical roles, making each engagement feel grounded in the tactics of the era.
Players can fully customize their regiments, equipping them with historically accurate weapons and gear that affect performance in battle. With over 150 historical units from various 18th-century European armies, there’s a wide range of options for building and managing your force. Units gain experience, officers level up, and every decision carries weight throughout the campaign.
And yes — you can even choose your army’s uniform colors.
Master of Command is set to release later this year on PC. For fans of deep, unforgiving strategy games, this looks like one to watch.
