Polish indie studio Ancient Forge (of The Tenants fame) has launched their latest sim title Hotel Galactic into Early Access on Steam. Blending cozy management gameplay with a hand-painted aesthetic, the game lets you build and run your dream tourist destination on a floating cosmic island.
At launch, Hotel Galactic features the first act of its story mode—a tale of redemption, friendship, and galactic hospitality. You’ll meet 6 alien races, a cast of quirky NPCs, and even host your first VIP guest. If narrative isn’t your thing, a sandbox mode is also available for unrestricted creativity.
Gameplay revolves around modular building mechanics that allow you to design unconventional structures optimized for guest flow and staff efficiency. You’ll also manage hiring, training, crafting, cooking, and research systems—all while balancing the needs of staff and guests alike.
Key features include:
- Custom room construction and decoration
- Diverse guest and staff management
- Cooking meals and crafting unique recipes
- Expanding your hotel with new blueprints and traits
- Exploring a heartfelt, story-rich universe
A prequel webcomic featuring the character Marietta is also out now, setting the stage for the events of the game.
Ancient Forge has laid out a robust roadmap for Early Access. Expect 6 new alien species (Verg, Diggo, Aique, Catercat, Whiffer, and Tenten), fresh VIP guests, more quests, and expanded systems like Mining, Creature Kinship, and Expeditions. At least 8 new room types and multiple QoL improvements are also on the menu.
The devs are prioritizing community feedback, promising player-driven updates ahead of the full 1.0 launch—an approach that worked well for The Tenants and seems poised to shape Hotel Galactic into something even grander.
Hotel Galactic is available now on Steam Early Access.
