Fans of classic turn-based strategy can finally get their hands on Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era—at least a small part of it. Publisher Hooded Horse, alongside Ubisoft and developer Unfrozen, has released a free demo for the upcoming entry in the legendary strategy series. However, the game’s Early Access release window has now shifted to 2026.
The announcement came during Ubisoft’s Heroes of Might and Magic 30th Anniversary Celebration stream, which highlighted the franchise’s long-running legacy and offered a look into its future. Alongside interviews and retrospectives, the showcase revealed new details about Olden Era’s demo and upcoming plans.
The demo build gives players access to four playable factions and three different game modes: Classic, Single Hero, and Arena. While this version is single-player only, the full game will include multiplayer, additional modes, and more factions. Players can try out the demo now on Steam, with the same build also appearing in the Steam Next Fest starting October 13, 2025.
While no exact date has been confirmed, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is now scheduled to launch in Steam Early Access sometime in 2026.
Fans looking to see how this new chapter reimagines one of strategy gaming’s most iconic franchises can dive into the demo today.
