Frosthaven, the digital adaptation of the hit board game, launches into Early Access on Steam and Epic Games Store tomorrow, July 31. Developed by Snapshot Games and published by Arc Games in partnership with Asmodee and Cephalofair Games, the tactical RPG enters the scene with a launch trailer released a day early—and a 10% discount until August 7, dropping its price to $35.99.
Also launching is a Frosthaven + Gloomhaven bundle, priced at $74.98, with the same 10% off during the Early Access window. The bundle includes both digital adaptations, with Twin Sails handling publishing duties for Gloomhaven.
The game is arriving with a decent chunk of content for its debut. Players can expect:
- Around one-third of the planned 1.0 version
- Single-player and online co-op
- GeForce NOW support
- Eight characters (six starting, two unlockables)
- 35+ tactical quests, including a tutorial
- 100+ narrative events with voiceovers
- Outpost-building features that unlock new gameplay options
Voiceover narration is provided by Forteller Games, and all content is playable from the get-go. Snapshot says new content and updates are expected to drop roughly every three months during the Early Access period.
The game will be in Early Access for approximately one year, though that timeline may shift depending on community feedback. Players are encouraged to join the official Discord to contribute thoughts and bug reports, which will actively shape development.
Frosthaven is also making an appearance at Gen Con 2025 from July 31 to August 3 at the Indiana Convention Center. Attendees can try an Early Access demo at both the Cephalofair Games (Booth #1643) and Forteller Games (Booth #3015).
Julian Gollop, CEO of Snapshot Games and creator of X-COM, leads the development team. The original board game’s creator, Isaac Childres, is on board as a consultant.
According to Gollop, “Tomorrow’s launch will be just the beginning of Frosthaven’s adventure,” and the team plans to work closely with players to evolve the game throughout Early Access.
No 1.0 release date has been set yet. In the meantime, the frozen wilds await.
