Independent studio Tense Games has showcased new visual and gameplay features for its in-development RTS Fractured Alliance, offering a look at what’s next as the project heads toward Gamescom 2025.
On snow maps, all buildings now automatically receive a realistic snow layer, adding more atmosphere to winter battles. The studio has also upgraded its terrain tools, paving the way for higher-quality landscapes in upcoming maps.
The latest development update also spotlights new defensive and offensive options. Bunkers are being added for rifle infantry, missile infantry, radiation troopers, and plasma troopers. The Eastern Alliance faction will gain a long-range ballistics vehicle, giving it powerful late-game artillery capabilities.
Work continues on refining The Collective faction, with early balancing underway through regular internal 1v1 matches between developers.

Fractured Alliance is described as a spiritual successor to Command & Conquer titles like Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, blending classic RTS mechanics — base building, three-faction warfare, resource node control, and superweapons — with modern visuals and strategic depth.
Tense Games will be at Gamescom 2025 to meet with industry partners and discuss securing a long-term publishing partner. The game can be wishlisted now on Steam.
