The upcoming fast-paced roguelite RTS Fleetbreakers has just dropped a brand new gameplay trailer and an updated Steam demo. Developed by Last Keep — a studio led by veterans behind Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, Halo Wars, and Alan Wake — the game is now slated to launch in Q1 2026 after a shift from its earlier 2025 target.
In Fleetbreakers, players command a growing rebel faction taking on the Voltari, a dominant galactic empire. The game mixes strategic planning across a galaxy-wide campaign map with fast-paced, roguelike battles, aiming to capture the essence of classic RTS gameplay in shorter, replayable bursts.
Each campaign run lets you make critical choices on where to expand, which targets to strike, and how to manage sector-wide events. The Voltari won’t sit idle either — enemy factions react dynamically to player moves, forcing constant adaptation to survive and progress.
Once strategy gives way to combat, players assemble fleets from a range of ships, each offering unique abilities and roles. Your Mothership acts as both a forward base and production hub — building new stations, calling reinforcements, and activating special support powers as battles unfold. Encounters are procedurally generated, ensuring no two missions play the same.
According to Last Keep CEO Dave Pottinger, Fleetbreakers represents both a return to roots and a new experiment in how strategy can be condensed into fast, punchy experiences. “RTS games are having a resurgence and now is a great time to show a new generation why we love them so much,” he said.
