Paradox Interactive is adding a new layer of medieval ceremony—and scheming—to Crusader Kings III with the release of Coronations, a fresh event pack arriving on September 9, 2025.
The expansion introduces coronations as a full-fledged in-game Activity. Players will be able to summon vassals to a grand ceremony marking their rise to the throne. As with most things in medieval politics, the spectacle isn’t just about glory—it’s also a stage for backroom maneuvering, faction power plays, and, if needed, eliminating rivals under the cover of sacred tradition.

What’s New in Coronations
- Coronation Activity: Legitimize your rule by hosting a grand event designed to impress vassals and neighboring rulers. The success—or chaos—of the occasion will influence your standing in the realm.
- Faction Tensions: Not everyone in attendance will be thrilled. Detractors and schemers have the chance to cause trouble during the ceremony, forcing rulers to balance pageantry with survival.
- Royal Oaths: Following a coronation, rulers can swear an oath to set the direction of their reign. These objectives unlock new decisions with unique rewards, allowing players to tailor the aftermath of their ascension.
- Courtly Drama: Whether celebrating loyalty or plotting downfall, the coronation serves as a hub where alliances can be solidified—or fractured—in full view of the court.
