Amazon Games has announced its next big swing at multiplayer, with March of Giants stepping into the crowded MOBA arena on September 2 with a Closed Alpha. Developed by Amazon Games Montreal, the title mixes large-scale strategy with frontline combat, putting players in control of towering Giants who command armies across the battlefield.
The studio, led by Creative Director Xavier Marquis — best known for his work on Rainbow Six Siege — describes the project as a competitive multiplayer experience blending MOBA staples with the tactical elements of an RTS. Players don’t just click away from the sidelines; they embody the Giant itself, leading waves of soldiers while constructing and holding strategic points on the map.
Matches in March of Giants pit two teams of four against each other. Victory depends not only on direct combat but also on smart positioning, fortifications, and coordinated strategy. Amazon says structures will play a central role in controlling the map and securing objectives.
The Closed Alpha will debut with 15 playable Giants. Ten are available right away, while five more unlock through progression. Each Giant wields unique abilities and powers designed to offer varied playstyles and tactical options.

The first wave of testing kicks off exclusively in North America on September 2. Access requests are open via the game’s Steam page. Amazon confirmed that later Alpha and Beta phases will expand access to additional regions.
March of Giants is being positioned as Amazon Games Montreal’s debut release, with the studio composed of developers described as veterans of competitive PvP design. The combination of large-scale battles, MOBA mechanics, and RTS decision-making suggests Amazon is aiming to carve a distinct space in a genre long dominated by familiar names.
Whether the experiment lands will likely depend on how the Alpha is received. For now, North American players can mark September 2 as their first chance to step into the boots of a Giant and see how Amazon plans to merge science, magic, and strategy into one package. Wishlist on Steam.
