Independent developer Tense Games has shared new details on Fractured Alliance, its upcoming real-time strategy title inspired by genre staples like Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert. The latest reveal spotlights The Collective, a faction built around automation, drones, and swarm tactics.
Unlike traditional RTS armies, The Collective is designed as an accessible entry point for newer players. Early gameplay focuses on base management, while mid- to late-game battles escalate into relentless drone swarms that pressure enemies through sheer numbers.
Recent updates to the faction expand its mechanical identity and unit roster:
- Screamer Drones – long-range missile units with bonus damage against vehicles.
- Mobile Refinery – redesigned visuals and improved resource collection mechanics.
- Fresh Drone Types – new swarm units add variety to battlefield strategies.
- Updated Graphics and Structures – visual upgrades emphasize the faction’s machine-driven theme.
In a nod to classic RTS design, vehicles can now physically crush infantry by running them over, echoing mechanics familiar to C&C veterans. Alongside resource nodes, terrain-based tactics, and superweapons, Fractured Alliance is clearly pulling from the genre’s heritage while layering in modern systems.
The full game will feature three distinct factions:
- United Federation – high-tech precision firepower and walker units.
- Eastern Alliance – heavy brute force with flame weapons and nuclear options.
- The Collective – automated drones that evolve into swarm warfare.
Multiplayer, co-op modes, and a story-driven campaign round out the package, aiming to deliver both nostalgia and fresh tactical choices.
